A sound relationship between doctors and patients is the cornerstone of effective medical care. In recent years, however, conflicts between the two sides have grown increasingly common. In my view, the best way to handle this relationship lies in genuine communication and mutual understanding rather than mutual blame.
To begin with, doctors should communicate patiently. When a physician explains a diagnosis in plain words and listens to a patient's worries, unnecessary suspicion melts away. Moreover, patients ought to place reasonable trust in medical staff and respect their professional judgment. If both sides put themselves in the other's shoes, tension can be greatly eased. A sound legal framework that protects both parties is equally indispensable.
In conclusion, a healthy doctor-patient relationship cannot be built overnight, yet through sincere communication, mutual respect and legal protection, we can surely make it warmer and more trusting.
