Part I
Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay on living in the virtual world. Try to imagine what will happen when people spend more and more time in the virtual world instead of interacting in the real world. You are required to write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words.

As digital technologies advance at an astonishing pace, more and more people are choosing to live in the virtual world rather than interact face to face. Where will this trend lead us? In my view, spending excessive time online is likely to reshape our lives in worrying ways.

First, human relationships will probably grow more distant. Picture a family sitting in one room at dinner, yet each member is silently staring at a glowing screen, connected to strangers online but disconnected from those beside them. As such scenes multiply, our real social skills may gradually decay, since abilities like reading emotions and holding a warm conversation only sharpen through practice. What is more, constant immersion could damage both our mental and physical health, leaving many anxious, lonely and out of shape.

This does not mean the virtual world is purely harmful; it can indeed link distant hearts and boost efficiency. Yet the key lies in balance. The more time we surrender to screens, the more deliberately we should return to reality. Only by keeping one foot firmly in the real world can we enjoy technology without being enslaved by it.

As digital technologies advance... rather than interact face to face Where will this trend lead us? In my view... in worrying ways

First, human relationships will probably grow more distant 起句给总判断,用 Picture a family... glowing screen 的场景作证据,再以 What is more, constant immersion could damage... health

This does not mean the virtual world is purely harmful Yet the key lies in balance The more time we surrender to screens, the more deliberately we should return to reality

Try to imagine what will happen when people spend more and more time in the virtual world instead of interacting in the real world——当人们越来越多地待在虚拟世界、而不在现实里互动时,会发生什么。

write a short essay

本篇立场:随着人们 spend more and more time in the virtual world,人与人、人与现实的联系会逐渐变淡,我们需要有意识地守住现实这一头。

As digital technologies advance, more and more people are choosing to ... rather than ...
Where will this trend lead us?
In my view, ... is likely to reshape our lives in ... ways.

Picture a scene where ..., yet ...
What is more, ... could ..., leaving many ...

达标要点是全文落点扣在 what will happen 上,多用 will、is likely to 等指向未来的表达。
First / What is more / Yet
落在区间且分段 达标要点:正文须落在 write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words 规定的区间内,段落分明、无需署名;写超写少都算不合规。
  • 利弊清单跑题 反面示例(跑题):The virtual world has many advantages and disadvantages. On one hand it is convenient, on the other hand it wastes time. If this trend continues, people are likely to grow more isolated from those around them.
  • 全现在时无预测 反面示例(只描述现状):Many people play games and chat online every day. As this habit deepens, many people will gradually lose interest in real-world contact.
  • 一边倒无让步 反面示例(太绝对):The virtual world is completely harmful and destroys everything. 改成:Though the virtual world does bring convenience, over-reliance on it may still weaken our real bonds.
