Many studies claim that computers distract people, make them lazy thinkers and even lower their work efficiency.
Is technology making people lazy? My answer is a qualified yes: while technology itself is neutral, the way most of us use it does breed laziness of both mind and body.
To begin with, technology encourages mental laziness. When a search engine can answer any question in seconds and a navigation app can guide every turn, few people bother to think, memorize or reason on their own. Gradually, we outsource our brains and lose the habit of deep thinking. Physical laziness follows the same logic: with delivery apps and online services, many people rarely walk, cook or move, so their bodies grow as idle as their minds.
Admittedly, technology can also make us more efficient. Yet the tool is not to blame; our passive dependence is. Therefore, the real question is not whether technology makes us lazy, but whether we control it or let it control us. Used wisely, it frees us; used blindly, it enslaves us.
以题目设问 “Is technology making people lazy?” 开头,“My answer is a qualified yes” 直接表态,“while technology itself is neutral” 用 while 让步定调,落实了首段“设问—表态—定调”的功能,并用 “both mind and body” 一句点出两条线。
“To begin with, technology encourages mental laziness” 亮出分论点,用 search engine、navigation app 当例子;“Physical laziness follows the same logic” 递进接上第二例,两条线都落回 laziness,实现主体段“主题句—例子—让步—回扣”。
“Yet the tool is not to blame; our passive dependence is” 把责任从科技转到人,“Used wisely, it frees us; used blindly, it enslaves us” 用对照句升华,收束辩证立场,呼应开头。
The statement given below is for your reference
Is technology making people lazy?,也顺势反驳了参考句里 make them lazy thinkers 的绝对说法。
Is technology making people lazy?
My answer is a qualified yes: …”(空位填你的判断)。
- 分论点主题句 “To begin with, technology encourages … laziness.”(空位填 mental/physical)先亮出该段观点。
- 举例落地 “When + 具体场景, few people bother to + 动词.”——用一个真实场景代替空泛断言。
- 递进衔接 “… follows the same logic: …”
Yet the real problem is …”——先认一点,再转到你真正的核心判断。
- 对照升华 “Used wisely, it …; used blindly, it …”——用一组对照句把立场推向一个记得住的结论。
Is technology making people lazy?;范文每段都回扣 laziness 并给出辩证答案,才算切题。
To begin with、follows the same logic、Yet、Therefore 等衔接词,层次一目了然。
- 语言准确 用 while/admittedly 体现思辨 范文用 while、Admittedly…Yet、Used wisely…used blindly 等结构,既准确又有层次,避免通篇 “Technology is good. Technology is bad.”
You should write at least 120 words but no more than 180 words,正文须落在这个区间内;本题是议论文,无需称呼与署名。
- 罗列好处却不答设问 反面示例:“Technology brings us much convenience. We can shop online and chat with friends. It also has some disadvantages.”——通篇现象、不回答是否变懒。应先表态:“Technology does make many people lazy, because it lets us avoid thinking and moving.”
- 泛泛而谈无例子 反面示例:“Technology makes people lazy in many ways and it is very serious.”——没有任何例子。应落地:“Relying on navigation apps, many drivers can no longer find a route without their phones.”
应化用:“Some studies warn that computers make us lazy thinkers, and my own experience confirms it.”
