What is the secret to living past 100? Playing the piano is among the things the world's oldest person believes has contributed to her long life. Branyas Morera is now 115 years and 320 days old. That means she's been alive longer than any other living individual.

Branyas was born in the United States on April 4th, 1907. But her family moved to Spain, where they were originally from, when she was a young child. She has lived there ever since.

The 115-year-old is active on social media, regularly sharing aspects of her life. She also shares some of her secrets to living so long. These include playing the piano from a young age. Unfortunately, she had to give up the practice seven years ago at 108.

Her other secrets for living a long life? She led an active lifestyle until her later years, but has never followed a specific diet. "Many people ask me what diet I follow to live so many years," Branyas wrote. "I have always eaten little, but everything, and I have never followed any plan." But she does eat yogurt every day, which she said has "an infinite number of positive properties" for the body. She has also said that the secret to a long life is "knowing how to choose" what to forget.

"Life would be impossible if we remembered everything," she said.

  1. P1

The World's Oldest Person and Her Piano Secret

Introduces Branyas Morera as the world's oldest person at 115 and teases piano playing as one of her longevity secrets.

通过 immediately introducing 一个 concrete secret(piano),段落 create expectation 会有 more secrets 被 revealed,这与 article theme 中提到的 multiple factors(piano, lifestyle, diet, forgetting)完美 align。

  2. P2

From America to Spain: A Century in One Place

Provides biographical context: born in the US in 1907, moved to Spain as a child and has lived there ever since.

它 establish credibility through verifiable facts(birth date, location)。更重要的是,it subtly introduce stability 这个 potential longevity factor —— living in one place for over a century。虽然 article theme 没有 explicitly mention geographical stability,但这个 background detail add depth to understanding 她的 lifestyle continuity, which connect to 后面提到的 consistent habits like daily yogurt。

  3. P3

Sharing Life Online: 108 Years at the Piano

Details her social media presence and expands on the piano secret: a lifelong practice from youth until age 108.

表面上,它 fulfill 了 第1段 的 promise —— deliver more details about piano secret。深层上,it introduce 一个 meta-element:她主动 share 自己的 longevity secrets through social media。这 reflect 她的 openness 和 willingness to connect, potentially 也是 longevity factors。段落 reinforce theme 中 piano 作为 key factor 的 position,同时 hint at cognitive 和 social engagement 的 importance,为理解 comprehensive longevity approach 打基础。

  4. P4

Beyond Diet: Activity, Yogurt, and the Art of Forgetting

Reveals additional longevity secrets: active lifestyle, moderate eating without strict diets, daily yogurt, and selectively forgetting.

这是 article 的 substantive core, directly address article theme 中列出的 multiple longevity factors。它 deliver 了 第1段 promise 的 "secrets" in full。段落的 value 在于 comprehensiveness —— cover physical, nutritional, and psychological dimensions。"Selective forgetting" 这个 profound insight elevate article from simple health tips to life philosophy,与 theme 中 emphasis on this mental strategy align perfectly。段落 also maintain authenticity through direct quotes, make secrets feel personal 而非 generic advice。

  5. P5

    The Wisdom of Forgetting

Provides philosophical rationale for selective forgetting: remembering everything would make life impossible.

这个 brief conclusion perfect for overall article theme,它 add depth to "selectively forgetting" 这个 secret。没有 introduce new secrets,而是 provide memorable philosophical frame for understanding 已提到的 psychological strategy。在 news feature 里,such ending leave readers with thought-provoking idea rather than just facts。它 reinforce theme 中 forgetting 作为 longevity secret 的 importance,但 also universalize the message —— 这不只是 longevity tip,而是 life wisdom。短小精悍的 format make it stick in reader's mind, effective closure for article。

Branyas Morera age

What does Branyas Morera's age indicate?

    • A She is the oldest person in recorded history.
    • B She became famous after learning the piano.
    • C She is currently the oldest living person.
    • D She has lived in the United States for 115 years.
    • E She is the only person who has lived beyond 100.
    • F She has remained physically active throughout her life.

currently 对应 now, oldest living person 对应 longer than any other living individual,属于典型的同义改写。

Which statement about Branyas's early life is correct?

    • A She was born in Spain and later moved to the United States.
    • B Her family moved to Spain before she was born.
    • C She returned to the United States after growing up in Spain.
    • D She was born in the United States and moved to Spain as a child.
    • E She moved to Spain alone to study music.
    • F She has lived in several countries since childhood.

选项严格保留了两地与先后关系:born in the United States 在前,moved to Spain as a child 在后。as a child 是对 when she was a young child 的自然改写。

What happened to Branyas's piano practice?

    • A She began learning it at the age of 108.
    • B She still practices it every day.
    • C She stopped practicing it when she moved to Spain.
    • D She took up the piano after becoming active on social media.
    • E She gave it up at the age of 108.
    • F She stopped because she adopted a strict diet.

it 明确回指 piano practice, gave it up 与 had to give up 意义一致,at the age of 108 对应 at 108。

What does Branyas say about her eating habits?

    • A She follows a strict plan that limits her food choices.
    • B She eats only yogurt every day.
    • C She avoids eating food after a certain age.
    • D She credits a vegetarian diet for her long life.
    • E She began eating less only after she became inactive.
    • F She eats small amounts of a variety of foods without following a set diet.

small amounts of a variety of foods 准确转述 eaten little, but everything, without following a set diet 对应 never followed any plan 和 never followed a specific diet。

Why does Branyas believe forgetting is necessary?

    • A Remembering everything would make life impossible.
    • B Forgetting helps people follow a healthier diet.
    • C Forgetting allows people to become more active online.
    • D Remembering everything makes people live longer.
    • E Only older people need to forget unpleasant events.
    • F Forgetting is necessary to learn to play the piano.

该项直接重述人物引语中的条件结果:if we remembered everything, life would be impossible。

这个 opening paragraph 通过 what-question 的形式引出 the world's oldest person Branyas Morera,并用 playing the piano 这个 specific example 来 hook 读者的 attention,同时 reveal 她已经活了 115 years and 320 days, establish 了整篇 news report 的 central figure 和 longevity theme

作为 news lead,这个 opening 直接 present 了 the most newsworthy element——world's oldest person 的 identity 和她的 first longevity secret,用 intriguing detail (piano playing) 来 capture reader interest,为后续 elaborate 更多 secrets 做 foundation

这个 background paragraph 提供了 Branyas 的 birth information 和 geographical background,包括她 1907 年 born in the United States 但 childhood 时 moved to Spain 并 lived there ever since,这些 biographical details 为 character 增添 context 和 credibility

典型的 news body 中的 background section,它 provide essential context about the subject's origin and life trajectory,虽然不 directly address longevity secrets,但 establish 她 cross-cultural experience 和 long-term residency in Spain,为 readers 构建 complete picture of this remarkable individual

这个 paragraph 先 highlight Branyas 的 social media presence 和 active sharing behavior,然后 circle back to longevity secrets, specifically elaborate 她 from a young age 就 play piano 这个 secret,并 add 一个 poignant detail——她在 108 岁时 give up this practice,这个 section 既 show 她的 modern engagement 又 deepen 对 piano secret 的 understanding

这个 sense group 在 news body 中 serve dual purpose:一方面 demonstrate 她 remarkable mental agility (active on social media at 115),另一方面 provide specific details about the piano secret that was mentioned in lead,用 concrete timeline (started young, stopped at 108) 让 abstract concept 变得 tangible and credible

这个 extended paragraph 用 question-answer format 来 present multiple additional longevity secrets,包括 active lifestyle, no specific diet but eating moderately and everything, daily yogurt consumption with its positive properties,以及最 philosophical 的一条——selective forgetting,整个 section 通过 direct quotes 和 detailed explanation 构成 the most substantial part of longevity advice

这是 news body 的 core section,它 concentrate 地 deliver the main substance that readers seek——comprehensive longevity secrets,通过 enumerate multiple factors (lifestyle, diet philosophy, specific food, mental approach) 并用 her own words (direct quotes) 来 enhance authenticity and authority,这个 sense group essentially fulfill 整篇 report 的 informational promise

这个 brief concluding paragraph 通过 her direct quote 对前面提到的 selective forgetting 这个 secret 进行 philosophical elaboration,用 "Life would be impossible if we remembered everything" 这句 profound statement 来 explain the rationale behind choosing what to forget,形成 thought-provoking ending

作为 closing paragraph,它 elevate 前面的 practical advice 到 philosophical level,用 memorable quote 来 provide deeper insight into one of the secrets,让整篇 news report 在 information delivery 之外还有 reflective depth,这种 ending 在 feature-style news 中 common,用来 leave readers with lasting impression

MAIN IDEA ·

Branyas Morera, the world's oldest person at 115, credits her longevity to playing piano from a young age, maintaining an active lifestyle, eating moderately without strict diets, consuming daily yogurt, and selectively forgetting to avoid being overwhelmed by memories.

首先,从句法结构来看,'playing piano has contributed to her long life' 这个表达建立了 piano playing 和 long life 之间的因果联系。

从 temporal logic 看,originally 连接了两个 time points:family 的 original location (Spain) 和 Branyas 的 birth location (US)。从 morphology 看,origin + -al + -ly 这个构词过程清晰地指向 'at the beginning' 这个时间概念。 综合这三点,originally 表达的是 'at the origin' 或 'in the beginning' 的含义,用来指代某事物最初的状态或来源。

从 morphology 看,in- (not) + finite (limited) = infinite (unlimited),直接指向 'without limit' 的含义。

    P1

文章开篇就用 "What is the secret to living past 100?"

What is How can Why do What makes Can we Is it possible What if

What is the secret to [desired outcome]? [Immediate partial answer or intriguing statement]." 比如 "What is the key to startup success? Building the right team is among the factors..."

    P1 P2

文章精准地 specify "115 years and 320 days old" 以及 "April 4th, 1907" 这些 concrete numbers,给读者提供 verifiable facts。 Specific dates and ages

信号词 years old born on percent number of increased by totaling as of recorded at

[Subject] is now [specific number/measurement]. That means [explanation of significance]." 比如 "The startup has grown to 1,247 employees. That means it's expanded by 340% in just two years."

    P2

第二段简洁地交代 Branyas 的 birthplace (United States) 和 childhood relocation to Spain,为读者提供 biographical context。

信号词 was born originally from grew up in moved to has lived background includes previously worked

仿写: 提供 background 时要 concise but informative, focus on details that are relevant to the story。 [Subject] was [background fact]. But [transition to current situation], where [current status]. [Subject] has [continuity statement] ever since." 确保 background serves the narrative 而非 distract from main point。

    P4 P5

文章使用 Branyas 的 direct quotes 如 "Many people ask me what diet I follow" 和 "Life would be impossible if we remembered everything",让她的 voice 直接呈现给读者。 特别是关于 selective forgetting 的 quote,it reveals her wisdom 并 elevates the article from simple factual reporting to philosophical reflection, deepening the story's impact。

信号词 said wrote explained noted according to stated remarked pointed out mentioned

仿写: 选择 meaningful quotes that reveal character 或 support key points,避免 stating obvious facts。 [Insightful/revealing statement],' [subject] wrote/said. '[Supporting detail or elaboration].'" 确保 quotes 是 substantive and quotable,值得用 quotation marks 标注。

这种 neutral reporting style 让信息 speak for itself, without editorial judgment。特别提到她 "had to give up the practice seven years ago at 108" 这个 specific detail,既是 objective fact 又 subtly conveys the poignancy of aging, demonstrating how descriptive writing can be both factual and emotionally resonant。

信号词 is has regularly shares includes follows maintains participates in engages in

仿写: 描述时 stick to observable facts and actions, avoid interpretive language。 [Subject] is [observable characteristic], regularly [specific action]. [Subject] also [another factual action]. These include [concrete examples]."

    P4

第四段呈现 interesting contrast:Branyas "led an active lifestyle" 但 "has never followed a specific diet"。这个 juxtaposition 挑战了 conventional wisdom about longevity requiring strict regimens。通过对比 "active lifestyle" 与 "no specific diet",以及强调 "I have always eaten little, but everything" 与 "never followed any plan",文章展现了她 approach 的 paradoxical simplicity, making her longevity secrets more intriguing and accessible。

信号词 but however yet while although despite never instead on the other hand

仿写: 建立对比时 identify two elements with interesting differences,用 contrasting connectors 来 highlight the opposition。 [Subject] [action A], but [contrasting action B]. [Subject] has [positive attribute], yet has never [expected corresponding behavior]." 比如 "She exercised daily, but never counted calories." 确保 contrast is meaningful 并 serves the story's purpose。

IMPLIED MEANING ·

    P3
Unfortunately, she had to give up the practice seven years ago at 108.

Unfortunately unfortunately however but yet though although

表面上 article 在 present Branyas 的 longevity secret(playing piano),但 unfortunately 这个 word choice 透露了 deeper reality:即使是 world's oldest person 也 cannot maintain 所有 beneficial habits forever。这个 implication 对 article theme 起到 balancing effect - 它 prevents the story from becoming unrealistic inspiration, instead acknowledges that longevity 伴随着 inevitable physical limitations。这种 honest portrayal 让 main message 更加 credible,告诉 readers:long life 不是 perfect life,而是在 decline 中 maximize quality 的 process。

    P4
but has never followed a specific diet... I have never followed any plan.

否定词强调 never no not neither nor hardly scarcely

Never followed any plan 这个 statement 的 implication 是:complex health regimens 可能是 unnecessary 甚至 counterproductive。这对 article's main theme 贡献了 refreshing perspective - longevity 不需要 expensive supplements 或 complicated routines,只需要 moderation and consistency。这个 message 让 story 更 accessible to average readers,因为它 suggests long life 不是 privilege of those who can afford elaborate plans。同时,这也 subtly criticizes 现代 health industry 的 over-complication,暗示 our ancestors' simple lifestyle 可能更 sustainable。

    P5
Life would be impossible if we remembered everything

极端词/绝对化表达 impossible always never every all absolutely completely

Life would be impossible 这个 dramatic claim 的 implication 远超 memory management - 它在 suggest long life 需要 emotional detachment。 这个 insight especially valuable because 很多 centenarian stories focus on diet and exercise, but Branyas 在 emphasize forgetting 这个 counterintuitive skill。言外之意是:accumulating experiences 不如 curating them, holding onto everything 会 create unbearable weight。这 completes the article's holistic view - long life 需要 physical health, moderate habits, 以及最重要的,psychological freedom from the past。

AUTHOR ATTITUDE ·

但这里作者直接 present Branyas 的观点作为 her beliefs,没有加 hedging words,说明作者对这个 centenarian 的 life philosophy 是 respectful 的。

当 journalists 对 subjects 持 positive attitude 时,他们会 include impressive details 来 build up the figure's significance。用 "world's oldest person" 和 precise age calculation 不仅是 factual reporting,更是在 establish Branyas 作为 remarkable individual 的地位。

Critical journalism 通常会 balance subject's claims with opposing views 或 scientific evidence。但这里作者连续 present Branyas 的多个 life secrets (piano playing, active lifestyle, yogurt, selective forgetting) without questioning their validity。这种 unchallenged presentation 在 news reports 里表明作者 treat the subject as a credible authority 而不是 someone whose views need verification。

如果作者想保持 strictly neutral,通常会用 factual wrap-up ("Branyas currently lives in Spain")。如果想 cast doubt,会 end with limitations ("scientists say there's no proven link")。但这里选择 end with her philosophical wisdom about memory and forgetting,这是把她 position 成一个 life teacher 而不是 just a news subject。这种 ending elevates the subject 并 leave readers with inspiration。

判断 author's attitude 需要 see the pattern across all elements。 没有 contradictory signals,没有 hedging language in key moments,没有 critical counterpoints。

  • secret P1

用 "secret" 这个词 implies 有 valuable knowledge to be discovered,给 Branyas 的 life choices 赋予一种 mysterious and desirable quality。

  • world's oldest person P1

这个 superlative phrase 是在 establish Branyas 的 exceptional status。作者不是简单说 "an old person" 或 "a centenarian",而是 emphasize 她的 world record,这种 language elevates the subject 并 suggest her experiences deserve attention。

    同类词 world's oldest longest-living record-holder remarkable extraordinary

  • active on social media P3

作者选择 highlight 她的 social media presence 而且用 "active" 这个词,是在 present her as modern, engaged, and relevant,而不是 frail or disconnected。

  • regularly sharing P3

"Regularly" 这个 adverb of frequency 强调 consistency and commitment,暗示 Branyas 的 social media activity 不是偶然或被动的,而是 intentional and sustained。这种 characterization adds to the portrayal of her as an admirable figure who willingly shares wisdom。

  • Unfortunately P3

作者用 "unfortunately" 表达 regret about Branyas 放弃 piano playing,这说明作者 value 她的 musical practice 并 see its end as a loss。这是作者 explicitly entering the narrative with emotional perspective。

同类词 unfortunately sadly regrettably disappointingly tragically

  • secrets P4

重复使用 "secrets" (也在 第1段 出现) creates a thematic pattern,持续 frame Branyas 的 lifestyle choices 作为 valuable knowledge。这种 repetition 强化 respectful and learning-oriented attitude,暗示读者应该 pay attention to her practices。

同类词 tips advice wisdom lessons insights

  • infinite number of positive properties P4

虽然这是 direct quote from Branyas,但作者选择 include 这个 hyperbolic statement without qualification or fact-checking 说明作者 comfortable with her enthusiastic language。如果作者 skeptical,会 add editorial distance like "though scientists note" or "despite lack of evidence"。The absence of such qualification 是 implicit support。

同类词 infinite countless numerous abundant extensive

  • knowing how to choose P4

这个 phrase structure "knowing how to" frames selective forgetting as a skill or wisdom rather than just a behavior。它 implies intentionality, expertise, 和 mastery, which elevates Branyas' approach to life to something teachable and valuable。作者 present 这个 without irony or qualification, accepting it as genuine life wisdom。

这是典型的 news reporting style, focus on a newsworthy figure 而非 abstract ideas。

第四段和第五段包含 Branyas 自己的 direct quotes:"Many people ask me..." 和 "Life would be impossible..."。 Argumentative 和 expository texts 较少使用 extensive direct quotes from subjects。

整篇文章没有提出 a clear argumentative claim(比如 "we should all adopt these habits")也没有系统性地解释 longevity 的 scientific mechanisms。文章只是 reporting what Branyas does and says,让读者自己 draw conclusions。

本文完整呈现了新闻报道的 four key markers:开篇聚焦 Branyas Morera 这个 record-breaking individual,第二段提供 biographical timeline,第四五段大量使用 her direct quotes,全文没有 argue for a lifestyle change 或 explain the biology of aging。这种 structure 和 tone 的组合是 human interest news story 的典型特征,clearly distinguished from opinion pieces or educational explanations。
