As is vividly depicted in the cartoon, four adult children, namely the eldest son, the second son, the third son and the youngest daughter, each stand before a goal at the four corners of a field. In the center, an elderly parent is bent into the shape of a ball and kicked back and forth among them, like a so-called 'football match' of elderly care.
Simple as the picture is, it conveys a thought-provoking message. The old man kicked around like a ball symbolizes aging parents whom no child is willing to support; instead of shouldering their duty, the siblings push the responsibility onto one another. What the artist satirizes is the shameful truth that some children, though many, treat their parents as a burden to shove away rather than a duty to honor.
In my view, such behavior deserves severe condemnation, for it violates the basic virtue of filial piety. Supporting one's parents is not only a moral obligation but also a legal duty. Therefore, every child ought to take the initiative to care for the aged, and society should strengthen moral education so that no parent ends up as a 'ball' in this heartless game.
