Text 1
P1It's true that high-school coding classes aren't essential for learning computer science in college. Students without experience can catch up after a few introductory courses, said Tom Cortina, the assistant dean at Carnegie Mellon's School of Computer Science.

P2However, Cortina said, early exposure is beneficial. When younger kids learn computer science, they learn that it's not just a confusing, endless string of letters and numbers – but a tool to build apps, or create artwork, or test hypotheses. It's not as hard for them to transform their thought processes as it is for older students. Breaking down problems into bite-sized chunks and using code to solve them becomes normal. Giving more children this training could increase the number of people interested in the field and help fill the jobs gap, Cortina said.

P3Students also benefit from learning something about coding before they get to college, where introductory computer-science classes are packed to the brim, which can drive the less-experienced or less-determined students away.

P4The Flatiron School, where people pay to learn programming, started as one of the many coding bootcamps that have become popular for adults looking for a career change. The high-schoolers get the same curriculum, but "we try to gear lessons toward things they're interested in," said Victoria Friedman, an instructor. For instance, one of the apps the students are developing suggests movies based on your mood.

P5The students in the Flatiron class probably won't drop out of high school and build the next Facebook. Programming languages have a quick turnover, so the "Ruby on Rails" language they learned may not even be relevant by the time they enter the job market. But the skills they learn – how to think logically through a problem and organize the results – apply to any coding language, said Deborah Seehorn, an education consultant for the state of North Carolina.

P6Indeed, the Flatiron students might not go into IT at all. But creating a future army of coders is not the sole purpose of the classes. These kids are going to be surrounded by computers – in their pockets, in their offices, in their homes – for the rest of their lives. The younger they learn how computers think, how to coax the machine into producing what they want – the earlier they learn that they have the power to do that – the better.

21.
Cortina holds that early exposure to computer science makes it easier to____.
[ A ]complete future job training
[ B ]remodel the way of thinking
[ C ]formulate logical hypotheses
[ D ]perfect artwork production

Cortina

B(细节题)

题干 Cortina holds that early exposure to computer science makes it easier to

Cortina holds that early exposure to computer science makes it easier to____:主句 Cortina holds that...,宾语从句中 early exposure 是主语,makes it easier to do 是 "使做某事更容易" 的形式宾语结构,it 指代后接的 to 不定式。

P2

When younger kids learn computer science, they learn that it's not just a confusing, endless string of letters and numbers – but a tool to build apps, or create artwork, or test hypotheses. It's not as hard for them to transform their thought processes as it is for older students.

    • transform their thought processesremodel the way of thinking

预判 "改变思维方式更容易" 与 remodel the way of thinking 在动作与宾语上一一对应,锁定 B。

22.
In delivering lessons for high-schoolers, Flatiron has considered their____.
[ A ]experience
[ B ]interest
[ C ]career prospects
[ D ]academic backgrounds

  • A) 经验
B(细节题)

题干 In delivering lessons for high-schoolers, Flatiron has considered their____ 问 Flatiron 在向高中生授课时考虑了他们的什么,是定向到原文一处具体做法的细节复述。

In delivering lessons for high-schoolers, Flatiron has considered their____:In doing... Flatiron has considered their ____,their

P4

The high-schoolers get the same curriculum, but "we try to gear lessons toward things they're interested in," said Victoria Friedman, an instructor.

文章只在 P1 提到 "Students without experience can catch up",但那是 Cortina 谈大学情况,与 Flatiron 给高中生的课程设计无关。

  • B)✓ 正确
    • things they're interested ininterest

23.
Deborah Seehorn believes that the skills learned at Flatiron will____.
[ A ]help students learn other computer languages
[ B ]have to be upgraded when new technologies come
[ C ]need improving when students look for jobs
[ D ]enable students to make big quick money

A(细节题)

题干 Deborah Seehorn believes that the skills learned at Flatiron will____ 是 "某人 believes that" 句式,对原文该人物名下断言的转述题。

Deborah Seehorn believes that the skills learned at Flatiron will____:主句 Deborah Seehorn believes that...,从句主语 the skills(learned at Flatiron 为过去分词后置定语),will 后接动词原形构成空格内容。

P5

But the skills they learn – how to think logically through a problem and organize the results – apply to any coding language, said Deborah Seehorn, an education consultant for the state of North Carolina.

  • A)✓ 正确
    • apply to any coding languagehelp students learn other computer languages

Programming languages have a quick turnover, so the "Ruby on Rails" language they learned may not even be relevant 说的是"编程语言更迭快、Ruby on Rails 可能过时"——这是"语言"的过时,而非"技能"的升级;选项 have to be upgraded when new technologies come 把"语言会过时"嫁接成"技能必须升级"。

The students in the Flatiron class probably won't drop out of high school and build the next Facebook 已明示"学生大概不会辍学造下一个 Facebook"——即不会一夜暴富,选项 enable students to make big quick money 与之直接相反。

24.
According to the last paragraph, Flatiron students are expected to____.
[ A ]bring forth innovative computer technologies
[ B ]stay longer in the information technology industry
[ C ]become better prepared for the digitalized world
[ D ]compete with a future army of programmers

C(细节题)

题干 According to the last paragraph, Flatiron students are expected to____ 锁定最后一段,问的是该段对学生的总体期望,对应段落主旨而非选项推断。

According to the last paragraph, Flatiron students are expected to____:According to... Flatiron students are expected to do(被期望去做某事),空格处是动词原形短语。

P6

These kids are going to be surrounded by computers – in their pockets, in their offices, in their homes – for the rest of their lives. The younger they learn how computers think, how to coax the machine into producing what they want – the earlier they learn that they have the power to do that – the better.

Flatiron students might not go into IT at all 已明示这些学生未必进入 IT 业;bring forth innovative computer technologies"推出创新计算机技术"在原文中找不到对应——文章只谈"驾驭电脑",未谈"创新"。

Flatiron students might not go into IT at all(甚至可能根本不进入 IT 业);stay longer in the information technology industry"在 IT 行业待得更久" 直接与原文相反。

  • C)✓ 正确
    • These kids are going to be surrounded by computers – in their pockets, in their offices, in their homes – for the rest of their livesbecome better prepared for the digitalized world
    • The younger they learn how computers think... the betterbetter prepared

creating a future army of coders is not the sole purpose of the classes"培养未来程序员大军不是课程唯一目的"——原文是把这群孩子定位为"与电脑共处的普通人",不是把他们与程序员对立;compete with a future army of programmers"与未来程序员大军竞争" 与原文方向相反。

25.
The word "coax" (Line 4, Para. 6) is closest in meaning to____.
[ A ]persuade
[ B ]frighten
[ C ]misguide
[ D ]challenge

  • A) 说服
  • B) 恐吓
  • C) 误导
  • D) 挑战
A(词义句意题)

题干 The word "coax" \(Line 4, Para.

The word "coax" \(Line 4, Para. 6\) is closest in meaning to____:The word "coax" 是主语,括号是段行定位,is closest in meaning to 是 "在意义上最接近于" 的固定结构。

P6

The younger they learn how computers think, how to coax the machine into producing what they want – the earlier they learn that they have the power to do that – the better.

  • A)✓ 正确
    • coax the machine into producing what they wantpersuade
